the Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra, in India. The new devices are the successors of
the Motorola Razr (2022) and offer several improvements in terms of design,
performance, display and camera. The Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra will compete
with Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5, which is expected to launch later this
month.

The Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra will go on sale in India from July 15 via Amazon India and Motorola online store. The Razr 40 is priced at ₹59,999, while the Razr 40 Ultra costs ₹89,999. Both phones come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. They also run on Android 13 out of the box and support 5G connectivity.
Here are some of the key features and differences between
the two flip phones:
Design and display
Both Razr 40 Ultra and Razr 40 have a similar design
language, however, the cover display is the main distinction between the two
devices. While the Razr 40 Ultra has the bigger and best-in-class 3.6-inch
cover screen, making it the largest cover display on any flip phone, the Razr
40 has a more modest 1.5-inch screen. The larger display on the Ultra allows
users to access more features and apps without opening the phone, such as
Spotify, games, live wallpapers and custom app panels. The smaller display on
the Razr 40 is meant to offer a minimalist experience with basic notifications
and controls.
Both phones feature a 6.9-inch FlexView Full HD+ pOLED
display with a high refresh rate of 144Hz on the inside. The inner screen also
has a notch that houses a 32MP selfie camera for video calls. The inner screen
is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, which is said to be four times
more scratch-resistant than previous generations.
Both phones also have a redesigned teardrop hinge that
allows them to fold smoothly and securely. The hinge also prevents dust and
debris from entering the device. The phones are available in different colour
options and finishes. The Razr 40 Ultra comes in Infinite Black and Viva
Magenta colours with matte or vegan leather finishes, while the Razr 40 comes
in Sage Green, Summer Lilac and Vanilla Cream colours with vegan leather
finishes.
Performance and battery
The Razr 40 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+
Gen 1 chipset, which is one of the most powerful processors in the market. The
chipset is based on a 4nm process and offers up to 20% faster performance and
up to 30% lower power consumption than its predecessor. The chipset also
supports advanced AI features, such as voice recognition, natural language processing
and computer vision.
The Razr 40 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1
chipset, which is also based on a 4nm process and offers up to 15% faster
performance and up to 25% lower power consumption than its predecessor. The
chipset also supports AI features, such as face unlock, scene detection and
smart camera modes.
Both phones have a battery capacity of 3,800mAh, which is
claimed to last for up to two days on a single charge. Both phones also support
fast charging with a bundled 30W charger that can provide up to eight hours of
power in just 15 minutes. Additionally, the Razr 40 Ultra supports wireless
charging with a compatible Qi charger.
Camera
The camera department is another area where the two phones
differ significantly. The Razr 40 Ultra has a dual camera setup on the back,
consisting of a 12MP primary camera with Instant Dual Pixel PDAF technology,
f/1.5 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS), and a 13MP
ultra-wide-angle camera with macro vision mode that can capture close-up shots
as well as fit more into the frame. The primary camera can record videos in up
to 8K resolution at 30fps or in Full HD resolution at up to 240fps.
The Razr 40 has a single camera on the back, which is a
large 64MP sensor with OIS, f/1.9 aperture and quad pixel technology that
combines four pixels into one for better low-light performance. The camera can
record videos in up to 4K resolution at 60fps or in Full HD resolution at up to
120fps.
Both phones have a dedicated night mode that can capture
bright and clear photos in dark environments. They also have various shooting
modes, such as portrait, panorama, pro, spot colour, cinemagraph and dual
capture. The dual capture mode allows users to record videos using both the
front and rear cameras simultaneously.
Other features
Both Razr 40 Ultra and Razr 40 have some common features,
such as a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C port, a bottom-firing
speaker, a dual SIM slot (one nano SIM and one eSIM), Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6,
NFC and GPS. They also have water-repellent coating that can protect them from
splashes and spills.
Both phones also come with some exclusive Motorola features,
such as Moto Actions, Moto Display and Moto Gametime. Moto Actions allow users
to perform gestures to access shortcuts and functions, such as twisting the
phone to launch the camera or chopping the phone to turn on the flashlight.
Moto Display allows users to customize the cover screen with different clock
styles, wallpapers and widgets. Moto Gametime allows users to optimize the
gaming performance and block interruptions while playing games.
